Sick of reading boring "best albums" chart (sorry Florence and The Machine but we don't like you) we decided to create our personal Top Twelve.
Twelve 'cause Ten is not divisible by four, so we chose three albums each.

This is our last post for this year, we'll be back in 2012 directly from La Sauna studio where we'll record our new album "Scents".

Something about new album

New sounds are being tested and things are getting ready for the next release.

We don't know much about our future record yet.

But we know for sure that we will record the new album at La Sauna Recording Studio. And we also know that we would love to place the album online in free hi-res download since the release date, which seems something making a lot of sense to us.

And we also know that we will probably play no shows until the album is done and out.

We'll keep you posted about everything.

The long way Home

Domani saranno due mesi.
E' cambiato tutto da quel giorno, ma fortunatamente.. nonostante l'incidente e tutto ciò che ha provocato, sono felice di poter scrivere in tranquillità queste parole, e sono felice di aver sentito vicino e sincero tutto il vostro supporto.
I tempi dell'ospedale sembrano ormai lontanissimi, e guardandomi allo specchio pare non siano mai esistiti.

Purtroppo non tutto è passato, e pare ci vorrà ancora del tempo. Questo è il motivo per il quale abbiamo dovuto annullare concerti ai quali avremmo come sempre partecipato con tutta la nostra gioia.
Alcune conseguenze di quel giorno mi costringono ancora a stare lontano dalla batteria, e posso solo sperare che il tutto possa risolversi nel più breve tempo possibile. Ce la metterò tutta, lo giuro :)
Grazie ancora a tutti per il vostro prezioso supporto.

PS: sotto sotto lavoriamo sempre, e le nuove maglie per UTBY sono ora acquistabili anche tramite il nostro online store . Se avete letto fino a qui, beh, andarci è praticamente d'obbligo.

Tomorrow will be two months.
Everything has changed since that day, but luckily.. despite the accident and all the consequences caused by that, I'm so happy to write these words now, and I'm happy for all of the words and presence that you gave me in these days.
Those days in hospital seem to be so far now, and by looking at me at the mirror it feels like they never happened.

Unfortunately not everything has gone, and it seems that much time is still required. This is the reason why we've been forced to cancel some gigs that we would have loved to play, with all of our joy, as usual.
Some consequences of that day are still forcing me to stay away from the drums, and I hope to solve these problems as soon as possible. I'll do my best, I promise. :)

We are very pleased to announce that Davide is totally out of danger and, as you see above, is getting better and better. Thanks to all of you that in these hard days showed worry and, above all, love.

Stand by Davide

All the activities we have as a band are currently in stand-by for undetermined time.
Yesterday morning our drummer Davide has been involved in a serious accident while he was going to work. Davide is now out of danger, but he reported some serious facial traumas. Time will tell us better about the entity of this accident. Now it's time to show him our love and support.

Ogni attività della nostra band è al momento sospesa a tempo indeterminato.
Il nostro batterista Davide è stato vittima ieri mattina di un grave incidente mentre si recava sul suo posto di lavoro. Davide è fuori pericolo, nonostante riporti diversi traumi facciali. Il tempo saprà dirci meglio l'entità dell'incidente. Ora è il momento di manifestargli il nostro affetto e il nostro supporto.

The art of making good titles

We placed the whole album online ("Until Today Becomes Yesterday", out last year) in streaming for those lazy of you who don't have it yet.

You can find it on Lastfm, totally dying Myspace and SoundCloud. Please, spread out those as much as possible.
"Utby" in Cd format is now available also through distribution via Denovali Records (Germany), Escapartist Records (Germany), Consouling Sounds (Belgium) and Robotic Empire (USA).
Of course everything can be bought directly from us through our merch-store on BigCartel (new t-shirts coming soon!). And if you wanna buy the album on iTunes, here's the link. Thanks Escapartist Records for this.

Also, a tape-version of the album will be out sometimes in the future via Frohike Records. It's going to come with a nice handmade artwork in a super low amount of copies. Updates will follow soon.

Regarding everything else: we are slowing down the shows and focusing on the next release. Nothing will be out before Spring 2011, so it's too early to clearly figure out things. Anyways, new material is sounding more compact and structured to our ears, faster, rawer, and probably heavier I guess. Kind of different from what we have done so far.

Shows will restart on February 2011. Some are set already, some others will be confirmed soon, including a weekend trip in Central Europe, hopefully. For booking, write us at threestepstotheocean@gmail.com. We're in constant search of shows.

Concerti enormi, concerti cancellati, concerti recuperati, concerti in programma.
Moltissima festa a Lodi al Meg Mell Fest, evento bomba organizzato da Frohike e Hypershape. Gli Inferno vincono sempre e comunque. con i cavi ancora un po' più lunghi sarebbero riusciti a pucciare i piedi nel Mar Ligure. Grandi.
Festissima anche a Roma coi Juggernaut e A Cold Dead Body. Super mega festa martedì al Magnolia con And So I Watch You From Afar, le cui schiene permangono inspiegabilmente integre e funzionanti dopo un live (anzi, un tour) semplicemente devastante. Concertone. Ottimo aver recuperato con una band così figa la data persa qualche settimana fa, sempre al Magnolia ma coi Monolithic.
Stasera si suona a Mantova, all'ArciTom, con i nostri amichetti .Geisha. con cui in realtà abbiamo finora suonato una solta, ma che ci è rimasta bene impressa.
Notizia brutta? Notizia brutta. Non suoniamo al Twiggy a Varese. Ma soprattutto, non suoniamo al Twiggy a Varese coi Crippled Black Phoenix. C'è la finale di Ciempions Lig, quindi si inizia più tardi. E poi loro saranno sul palco in 9. Insomma, per noi ci sarebbe poco spazio, temporale e fisico. Rimandare è stata una saggia decisione.
Poi ci saranno altri due live, a Vigevano e a Legnano. Festival estivi in cui si beve un ettolitro dibbirra, si mangiano le salamelle e si starnutisce per l'allergia? Di quelli per ora niente, peccato.

Ammesso e non concesso che siate passati recentemente dalla nostra pagina Myspace, strumento ormai inspiegabilmente snobbato dai più -visto che lì, se uno vuole, può ancora ascoltarsi della musica, seppur male...ma questa è un'altra storia (forse)-, vi sarete accorti che ci sono una serie di date in programma da qui all'inizio dell'estate. Principalmente in Lombardia, ma non solo.

Domani sera infatti si suona a Roma, al Traffic, in compagnia di Juggernaut e A Cold Dead Body (i link sono fatti per cliccarci sopra), due gruppi a cui noialtri si tiene particolarmente.
Giusto il tempo di tornare e mercoledì (21/4) saremo al Magnolia, a Milano (anzi, a Segrate), ad aprire il concerto ai Monolithic, duo norvegese che vede alla batteria Kenneth Kapstad dei Motorpsycho. Il concerto è la seconda serata del Fiorella Mannaia Festival, organizzato dai ragazzi di SoloMacello. Vedete voi se vi sembra sensato non venire.

Le altre date sono, nell'ordine:
14 maggio @ ArciTom, Mantova con gli amici .Geisha. che presentano l'album
22 maggio @ Twiggy, Varese con i Crippled Black Phoenix, gruppuscolo britannico da cui sono passati anche membri di Mogwai, Electric Wizard e Iron Monkey
28 maggio @ Jack Bikers, Vigevano con gli Yak
12 giugno @ Legnano Film Festival - Piazzale Leone da Perego, Legnano (ma guarda un po'), organizzato da persone che gestiscono stagioni cinematografiche a Legnano dagli anni '50 (!!!). Suoneranno anche i Da Captain Trips.

Questo è quanto, speriamo ne arrivino anche altre.
Ah, comprateci delle magliette. Finalmente alla terza serie di stampa, ci siamo decisi a metterne qualcuna acquistabile online. E' molto importante che voi le compriate, perchè solo così possiamo alimentare la nostra sindrome incurabile e infettiva da acquisto inconsulto di strumenti musicali (ai più nota come G.A.S.) e ammorbarvi ulteriormente con suoni sempre nuovi.
In effetti, quest'ultimo potrebbe essere un valido motivo per non comprarci alcuna maglietta.

Touring all around Europe with your band for 10 days and having concerts every night are sort of things happening only because some people put all their strenghts and their passion to make them happen.
That's why we feel the word "Thanks" assuming such a simple yet fundamental meaning.
We only want to say THANKS to anyone, at any level, who got involved in our just past European Tour.

We wanna thank Ingo (and Eva) for taking care of the whole plan, finding shows, wrote tons of emails, calling people and so on. No tour would have taken place without you. Thank you so much.

In order of appearance we also wanna thank Hannes, Tesa, Isabella and the other Gurkos @ Pmk, Chris and Our Ceasing Voice, Dresda from Zena, Tomas and Have.To.Be.Distanced for the great hospitality (and for that gallon of apricot liquor as well), everyone at the nice Emil Club in Zittau, Hans, Thomas and everyone in

Anyone who bought our music and gave us money, prepared us food, provided us beer, gave us a place to stay, took pictures (send'em all!), caught videos, headbanged, laughed and had fun with us. Riprendiamo in mano questo blog, stavolta con l'autopromessa di metterci mano con una certa continuità, dopo averlo aperto e presto abbandonato in tempi di studio di registrazione.
E' successo che quel disco è un po' girato, è stato recensito ed è stato più o meno apprezzato. Abbiamo suonato qua e là, fatto molti kilometri, comprato una (direi fondamentale) macchina per fare fumo, bevuto diversi amari, stampato magliette e composto qualcosa di nuovo.
Adesso sta per succedere che si parte per un nuovo tour in Europa, dopo quello in Germania del 2008. Questo sarà più lungo e più intenso. Ingo, un ventunenne tedesco, ci ha trovato gran parte delle date.

5000 km sono 500.000.000 di centimetri. Ma abbiamo le nostre scarpine Chicco ai piedi e siamo pronti a fare tanta strada per vedere com'è fatto il mondo. Si parte già domattina, prima destinazione la Plattform Mobile Kulturinitiativen di Innsbruck, ai più nota come PMK. Poi vasca infinita fino a Brno, in Repubblica Ceca. Alcuni chiamano Brno la Manchester ceca, qui abbiamo la Manchester italiana, ovvero Busto Arsizio. Chissà Manchester, quella vera, che soprannome ha.

La sbatteria sembra essere a posto...Ora tocca al babbo che per tener fede al suo nome mentre fa i suoni di basso, se lo fa suonare dallo scascione. CHIARO.

stiamo trovando pian piano i suoni giusti, manca poco. Quando li avremo trovati, sicuramente un temporale in arrivo scaricherà un fulmine sullo studio bruciando il mixer, e ci ritroveremo solo col bicchierino di braulio in mano.. come dei poveri imbecilli.. ed ovviamente, dopo questa mitragliata di cagate cosa facciamo in questo fantastico studio? ORDINIAMO IL KEBAB.
